What is EasyDECON DF200?

EasyDECON DF200 Decontamination Solution is a blend that includes ordinary household substances such as those found in hair conditioner and laundry detergent that neutralize both chemical and biological agents in less than 30 minutes, but is environmentally friendly. Once applied, the solution draws the contamination into the liquid where the hazard is chemically altered, rendering the contamination harmless.

EasyDECON DF200 Decontamination Solution consists of three components, part 1 is a surfactant, part 2 is an oxidizer, and part 3 is an accelerator or catalyst for part 2. Once blended, the solution becomes a ‘hunter’ for bacteria and viruses, with the surfactant wetting out and ‘surrounding’ the target microbial with positively charged micelles which draw the negatively charged oxidizing species directly to their target.

Has EasyDECON DF200 been tested and if so on what?
EasyDECON DF200 Decontamination Solution has been successfully tested by the U.S. Military and a host of other accredited testing institutions on a number of live and simulated Chemical and Biological warfare agents. The testing facilities include:

EFT has distributors throughout the United States and can sell direct.
Is EasyDECON DF200 for human decontamination?
No. EFT does not recommend using EasyDECON DF200 Decontamination Solution for human decontamination. EasyDECON DF200 Decontamination Solution is a powerful chemical that kills biological and chemical agents. Although it is environmentally friendly, it can be harmful to mucus membranes and the respiratory track if the vapors are inhaled.
Is it safe to use in decontamination showers?
No. EFT does not recommend using EasyDECON DF200for human skin decontamination.
What are the benefits of EasyDECON DF200?
EasyDECON DF200 Decontamination Solution has been proven to kill both chemical and biological warfare agents. Clean up of the solution after use is easy and does not pose an environmental threat. It is safe to pour down drains, to drip onto the ground, or to run off into sewer systems after use without causing any ecological damage. Finally, once EasyDECON DF200 Decontamination Solution is applied, the user has the assurance that this product is effective.
What precautions should be taken when using EasyDECON DF200?
EasyDECON DF200 Decontamination Solution is a skin and mucus membrane irritant. Do not get in eyes, on skin, or on clothing. We recommend the user wear protective eye ware (goggles, face shields or safety glasses), protective clothing and water proof gloves. EasyDECON DF200 Decontamination Solution is harmful if swallowed. The vapors may cause respiratory irritation. When contamination is dicovered in a confined area, the use of a mask or pesticide respirator is recommended. If induced, contact a poison control center. EasyDECON DF200 Decontamination Solution will not damage or stain most fabrics and is safe to use on most surfaces. Bare, steel objects are suseptable to surface rust after long periods of exposure.
How do you apply EasyDECON DF200?
EasyDECON DF200 Decontamination Solution can be applied as foam, liquid spray, fog and mist. To apply as foam, EasyDECON DF200 Decontamination Solution is mixed and siphoned into a compressed air foam system where compressed air is regulated as it is introduced into the liquid stream prior to dispensing. The thickness of the foam is regulated by the amount of air introduced into the stream.
  • To apply as a liquid: An insecticide sprayer or similar apparatus may be used to pressurize the container allowing the solution to spray out at the directed area.
  • To apply as a mist: Commercial misting machines can be used to pump the liquid through a misting nozzle. Fan driven air is introduced behind the mist and propels it in the direction the forced air is moving.
  • To apply as a fog: Commercial fogging machines can be used to fog the solution. The solution particles can be regulated to facilitate the size of the particle depending on the application.
What surfaces can I put EasyDECON DF200on? What has it been tested on?
EasyDECON DF200 Decontamination Solution is safe for virtually all known surfaces. Since EasyDECON DF200 Decontamination Solution is an aqueous based solution, paper products will wrinkle after the solution is applied and allowed to dry. EasyDECON DF200 Decontamination Solution has been tested on a variety of surfaces. Concrete, asphalt, wood, ceramic, carpet, fabric, leather, steel and aluminum are just a few of the many surfaces tested.
Are there any surfaces EasyDECON DF200 is not recommended for?
No, but bare steel or iron will show signs of surface rust after the solution is applied and allowed to sit for long periods of time.
What kind of equipment can be used to apply EasyDECON DF200?
Depending on the type of area requiring remediation, EFT recommends several types of application products:
  • The Intelagard MACAW™ Backpack can dispense 5 gallons of solution as foam for smaller area remediation.
  • The Intelagard Merlin™ Hand Cart can dispense 15 gallons of solution as foam for medium size area remediation.
  • The Intelagard Falcon™ for large area remediation.
  • An insecticide pump sprayer can apply the solution as a liquid allowing for very small or defined area requiring remediation.
  • Foggers and misters are commercially available and will provide coverage in smaller areas.
How much EasyDECON DF200 needs to be applied?

If EasyDECON DF200 Decontamination Solution is applied as foam; EFT recommends a 1/2 inch layer of foam be applied to all suspected surfaces. Dwell time is 30 minutes to neutralize any contamination.

If EasyDECON DF200 Decontamination Solution is applied as a liquid, EFT recommends wetting all suspected surfaces. After 15 minutes, re-inspect the surface and repeat if necessary. Dwell time is 30 minutes to neutralize or kill WMD agents.

How long does it take to kill or neutralize an agent?
EasyDECON DF200 Decontamination Solution can neutralize some agents in minutes while other agents require up to 30 minutes of contact time. EFT recommends the solution remain wet and in contact with the suspected contamination for 30 minutes.
How do you know that there is a complete kill or neutralization?
The only way to determine that the contamination is neutralized is to conduct sampling operations. This procedure requires trained personnel in sampling techniques. A laboratory with a trained staff must analyze biological samples to verify the results.
How do you clean up EasyDECON DF200?
Once the 30 minute contact time has elapsed, EasyDECON DF200 solution can be cleaned using a wet/dry vacuum. Sponges, mops and clean water will wash away any residue. EFT recommends adding defoamer to the vacuum reservoir tank prior to vacuuming. The defoamer will neutralize the foaming agent in the solution making clean –up easier and faster.
What is the effect on EasyDECON iDF200 n extreme temperatures?

EasyDECON DF200 Decontamination Solution will freeze at 24° Fahrenheit (-4 Celsius), its boiling point is 200° Fahrenheit (93 Celsius). EasyDECON DF200 Decontamination Solution will begin to degrade at a higher rate when subjected to temperatures in excess of 120° Fahrenheit (49 Celsius).

When the three components are mixed, the freezing point EasyDECON DF200 solution remains the same at 24° Fahrenheit (-4 Celsius), but the degradation point is 120° Fahrenheit (49 Celsius). EnviroFoam Technologies, Inc. recommends storing EasyDECON DF200 solution components in a cool dry environment protected from direct sunlight or UV light.

How is EasyDECON DF200environmentally safe?
EasyDECON DF200 solution is a blend that includes ordinary household substances such as those found in hair conditioner and laundry detergent. The addition of a small amount of hydrogen peroxide to the solution does not impact the environment. EasyDECON DF200 solution is extremely powerful and will neutralize the contamination rendering it harmless. Biodegradable studies have determined EasyDECON DF200 solution is inherently biodegradable. Due to the lethality of mustard agents, EasyDECON DF200 solution will neutralize the toxicity of this agent, but the solution will remain hazardous and must be handled as hazardous waste.
