EXTREME TEMPERATURES

PART ONE

EasyDECON DF200 part one is an aqueous solution using a special combination of ingredients commonly found in laundry fabric softeners and fire fighting foams. As an aqueous solution, it will freeze at approximately 26°F. If it does freeze, it can be thawed and used in the liquid state as originally intended. After freezing and thawing, some white, gelatinous globules may be noticed. These are from an added foaming ingredient. If they are present, EasyDECON part one should be agitated to dissolve the globules or droplets, and part one will be ready to use again.

For optimal long term shelf life, EasyDECON part one should be stored in a cool location (near room temperature), but it will not be damaged by higher temperatures. At temperatures >120°F, some container bulging may be noted due to water vapor pressure inside the container. EasyDECON part one will still perform as designed.

PART TWO

EasyDECON DF200 part two is 7.95% liquid hydrogen peroxide. The product is packaged in clear bladders, drums or totes. As an aqueous solution, it will freeze at approximately 24°F. If freezing occurs, allow EasyDECON DF200 part two to thaw.

EasyDECON DF200 part two reaches a self-accelerating decomposition temperature (SADT) slightly above 140°F (50°C), and will lose all activity very quickly if this temperature is reached. EasyDECON DF200 part two can be stored at up to 105° F (40°C) in a cyclical condition, with a high temperature in the afternoon and a low temperature at night. The package will protect the contents from the short periods at high temperatures.

For optimal long term shelf life, EasyDECON DF200 part two should be stored at temperatures less than 85°F (30°C). EasyDECON DF200 part two containers should not be exposed to direct sunlight, as that might result in high heat inside the container. When stored below 85°F, the material will lose <.1%/year in peroxide activity. The usage levels recommended to prepare finished blend have included an overuse designed to compensate for this natural activity loss.

PART THREE

EasyDECON DF200 part three is an aqueous solution that is not susceptible to freezing. UV light will not degrade or affect the product. It is packaged in a sealed plastic container and has a boiling point of 280°F (138°C).

HANDLING

PART ONE

EasyDECON Part one is supplied in pails, drums, or totes. As shown on the MSDS, it has a pH of ~9.8. Because of the surfactant ingredients and the pH, part one can be mildly irritating to the skin if left on for extended periods. It can also cause eye irritation. Personnel handling the material should wear eye protection and gloves. See the MSDS for other instructions.

PART TWO

EasyDECON DF200 part two is a strong oxidizer. The main safety concern is eye and skin contact. Care should be taken to avoid contact with the eyes, skin and clothing. Personnel should wear eye protection, gloves, and approved chemical apron when handling Fortifier. See the MSDS for other instructions.

PART THREE

EasyDECON DF200 part three may cause skin irritation. EFT recommends wearing rubber gloves and eye protection when handling part three.

EASYDECON FINISHED BLEND

EasyDECON DF200 finished blend can be a mild skin irritant under extended exposure conditions, and can cause severe eye irritation. Inhalation of a mist can cause some irritation of mucous membranes. Users should wear eye protection, gloves, respirator when applying EasyDECON DF200.

MIXING

In order to perform properly, EasyDECON DF200 must be properly blended. Specific instructions are included with each container of EasyDECON DF200, and each kit contains premeasured quantities of each part. Users should take care to mix all three parts thoroughly before use.

APPLICATION

EasyDECON DF200 Decontamination Solution can be applied using a variety of application methods. EasyDECON DF200 is best applied in relatively low to moderate humidity in a temperature range of 45o F (7.2°C) to 85°F (29.4°C). EFT recommends applying EasyDECON DF200 as foam. Using Compressed Air Foam Systems (CAFS) expands EasyDECON DF200 giving the end user a greater amount of decontamination solution. EasyDECON DF200 may also be applied as a fog or mist using a fogging system, as a liquid using a hand held pump sprayer, or in a bath solution for dunking equipment and materials.

For surface decontamination, apply EasyDECON DF200 and ensure the surface area or equipment remains wet during for the required (30) minutes dwell time. Once the required dwell time has elapsed, remove EasyDECON DF200 in accordance with the clean-up recommendation. EasyDECON DF200 will neutralize or kill any suspected chemical or biological agent and not allow the agent to regenerate itself into hazardous waste

For indoor airborne mold and bacteria, the recommended application technique is fogging. Any cold fogger capable of producing 20-30 micron size droplets will be adequate. Fog the interior of the structure and allow for a 1 hour dwell time. Repeat the process a second time allowing for an additional 1 hour dwell time.

CLEAN UP

EasyDECON DF200 foam can be removed with a wet/dry vacuum, and or clean fresh water. EFT recommends adding a de-foaming agent such as carpet cleaner defoamer to the reservoir tank if vacuuming is the preferred method of clean up. Use a damp sponge, mop or rag to wipe up the residue that is evident on horizontal surfaces. Rinse thoroughly and repeat until all signs of residue are gone. Adding defoamer to the rinse water will ease clean-up. EasyDECON DF200 may be flushed down the drain without any concern of hazardous waste or spreading contamination. It is recommended that users review state and local regulations before flushing EasyDECON DF200 down the drain.
